Monika Janus

Doctoral Associate

Monika always encourages her clients to treat themselves with compassion when facing challenges.

Monika Janus is a doctoral associate working under the supervision of Dr. Ed Roldan and Dr. Alma Roldan, aspiring to become a registered clinical psychologist. Monika's love for working with people and creating a space where they feel safe, heard, and validated stems from her early work in the school system supporting children with a variety of learning and emotional needs. Her goal is to make a difference in people's lives by providing mental health services that help individuals achieve greater psychological flexibility and live more fulfilling lives.

Monika's favourite thing about her line of work is watching people find joy and meaning that lead them toward living more fulfilling lives. She focuses on personal history, recognizing thinking, and emotional and behavioural patterns, evaluating current systems, and building healthy relationships that reinforce values and keep individuals motivated to achieve their goals.

In her work with clients, Monika builds relationships that allow for genuine openness and trust to grow, using humour to create a safe and empowering space for personal growth and healing. Her ultimate goal is to help people discover how they can be the person they want to be, work in line with their values, and be kinder to themselves so that they have the emotional energy to learn and grow and be happier across contexts.

Monika connects well with immigrants who struggle with adjusting to life in Canada. She has specialized training in Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health, making her uniquely equipped to support individuals from diverse backgrounds.
